W.E.S. offers a lot of different clubs for students to pursue their interests.  These include:

Girls Club

Girls Club is running this year for grade 7 and 8 girls.

Purpose: The purpose of Girls Club is to provide opportunities for Grade 7 and 8 girls to develop friendship and social skills, and practice positive healthy lifestyles. Activities such as walking tours of Winkler, BBQs, baking, movie nights, crafts, board games, gym activities, drawing, scrapbooking, and sports are planned monthly to help facilitate the purpose of this club. The activities of the club are planned by group members to meet their interests.

Meeting Times: One noon hour and one after school meeting per month.

Navigate--to steer or to find one's way
Navigate is and after-school program for grades 3 to 8 students at WES.  The program is run by high-school volunteers and is offered every Thursday from 3:35 to 4:30.  Students can come to do homework, or to socialize with others by playing games or reading. All are welcome!

Running/Walking Club


Come walk and talk or run for fun!

The purpose of the club is to encourage students to be active and to provide opportunities for connection within the school community through daily scheduled running/walking time on the school walking path or in the gym. We'll walk/run everyday from 8:15-8:35. In fall or spring, students can go to the outdoor walking path (weather permitting).  In winter they can come to the gym.  Students must wear indoor runners when walking/running in the gym.  Supervising staff will join the students for a walk each morning.


Running and Walking Club Guidelines for Participants:

  • Be safe.
  • Be responsible.
  • Be friendly


Walking/Running Path Etiquette:

  • Wear clean, dry footwear indoors
  • Walk Counter-clockwise.
  • Stick to the right.
  • Pass on the left.
  • Let's have fun and be safe!


Safety Note:
In fall and spring when we are walking  on the outddor path, PLEASE REMEMBER we will NOT use the 9th street side of the path.  Runners and walkers must turn around at 9th street.
